B is for Boys and Birthdays

B is for Boys
All the Boys in my life.
The Big and the Bairn
the Beau and the Bygone,
in a Brown Booth at Boston Pizza.

B is for Birthdays.
A Book and a Ballcap,
A cat named Ben,
and a Bored little Brother.

B is for Blessed.
Because that's how I feel when I look at my Boy
Who just turned 14 – much too old for a toy.

B is also for Barf.
It happens, they say,
when too many Shirley Temples
are imbibed in one day.

  1. I love photoblogs, Cathy! It's nice to see your smiling family :-)

Such great B words too. I didn't know our boys were so close to the same age (mine just turned 13 :-))

  2. Thanks Tomara! Aren't they lovely, our boys? You know, when we're not having to yell at them?

  4. Hi there.
I found your blog on the A-Z list and since I live just down the highway in Orillia, I thought I'd pop in and say hello.

    "Hello."

    Fun read too.

  5. Boys don't get too old for toys, the toys just get more expensive. Good lookin' crew you have there Cathy!

  9. Kathy - yup, I'm thinking I'm the master angler in this crew!
Inside Out - Hi yourself, Orillia! Imagine finding a blogger from the 'hood in such a huge blogswap!
Harry - That there's what scares me... it was a blast buying him adult books though. Well, you know, not 'Adult' books - just not kids' ones...
Laurita - all those B's, eh? I should have thrown in my bra size.
Laura - Sam seriously barfed at 4 a.m. that night. He says it wasn't the pound of garlic bread or the sliders or the cake... insists it was the Shirley Temple.
Ash - True, I guess, but geez I hate barfing...

  14. Added myself to your followers.

This is a fun post. I'm the only guy in a houseful of girls--well now it's just my wife and I, but between us we have 4 daughters and now 2 granddaughters. Loved raising the girls, except the teen years were sometimes dicey. Now they are all wonderful ladies.

Contrary to my usual practice of subscribing to comments, to save time during challenge I will not be doing so during April. If you want to respond to my comment , please email me directly from your email notification for the comment.
    Thanks.

  15. Nice post! I have twin boys who are having a birthday this month. They'll be 18. I can't figure out what to give them for their birthday and they can't think of anything they want either.
I am following your blog now. Happy A-Z blogging!
